What You Need To Know About Escape Out’s Rules and Policies
Escape rooms are a new social entertainment concept. The idea was originally created
in Japan and has spread all over the world in the past decade. After an explanation of
the rules, you and your team will be locked in one of our five themed escape rooms and
given 60 minutes to explore, investigate, find clues, and solve puzzles to unlock the next
mystery and figure out the solution to escape the room. Teamwork and communication
are essential to escaping- and for having fun!
We’ve designed all of our rooms! The hosts who greet you are the same people who got
their hands dirty with paint, lumber, and wiring to make the mystery magic happen.
You will be greeted by a member of our team, who will explain the rules. Within minutes,
you and your team will be locked in your room and given 60 minutes to escape (your
booking is for the whole room – you will not be paired with another group). The room is
yours to explore and investigate. Solve clues to unlock the mysteries and you may
escape before the clock hits zero. If you get stuck, each room is equipped with a phone
to call your host for clues whenever you need one.
Our Malice Manor room is haunted, and some escapees may find it scary. All other
rooms are not designed for scares.
1. No clues require force to be solved. While you are free to make a mess of the room,
please take care not to break anything or take anything out of the room.
2. Do not touch items marked with “Do not touch”. This will apply to items like electrical
boxes, music boxes, etc. that you don’t need to mess with.
3. Don’t eat, drink, or spill the clues. There will be liquids. Don’t drink them; they probably
won’t hurt you, but they will not taste good, we promise.
4. While you may keep your phone, photos and videos are prohibited.
5. All room doors will open in case of emergency or unexpected bathroom breaks.
6. Keep the mystery alive! Tell your friends about us, but don’t give away all the clues!
It is definitely challenging! No math skills or other unusual abilities are needed; however, we are always available to give out hints. Most teams need 1-5 hints or gentle pushes in the right direction throughout the hour.
There is a possibility that some puzzles may malfunction on extremely rare occasions, despite our best efforts to keep them running. On these rare occasions, the game may be halted, and the host will fix the issue so you may continue the game.
We are open by appointment only. Tuesday - Thursday: 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm; Friday and
Saturday: 11:30 pm - 10:00 pm; Sunday 11:30 pm - 7:15 pm. Please book in advance
online. Bookings made online must be made at least 2 hours in advance. If you are
looking to inquire about a corporate event or a birthday event, please email us at
info@escapeoutfolsom.com or call (916) 467-7339.
Please show up at least 15 minutes early to ensure you are ready to enter the room
when your hour begins. If we have teams booked immediately after your booking, any
minutes late will cut into your time since we must let them in at their allotted time. If you
are going to be late, please call us at (916) 467-7339, and we will let you know if this will
affect your playing time. If you are over 30 minutes late, we reserve the right to cancel
the appointment without a refund.
Cancellations will not be accepted. You may change your appointment time at no
additional cost up to 24 hours before the event. You can reschedule by clicking the
appropriate link in your confirmation email. For last-minute issues, please email us at
info@escapeoutfolsom.com or call (916) 467-7339.
If you wish to add additional persons to your room, we can accommodate up to 6, 8, or
12 people depending on the room. Additions can be made at any time, right up until you
step into the room.
We welcome children of all ages. They have the most fun with families and friends. However, younger kids need to be part of an adult group or accompanying adult to have great time while playing responsibly.
Minor/Kids Pricing, Age and Adult Supervision Policy:
- Age 5 or less: Children under 5 years old may participate free of charge when accompanied by an adult or family group.
- Ages 6–18: When part of a family group, are required to purchase a full‑price ticket.
- Exclusive kids‑only bookings:
- Group bookings are permitted only for children 10 years and older. Must have a supervising adult (18+) accompanying and present in the room to supervise and ensure no objects or props are damaged.
- Group bookings with kids 15+, supervising adult (18+) need not be present in the room, but stay on premises and assume full responsibility for any damages to props, furnishings, or equipment within the escape rooms.
- Supervising Adult Responsibility

Adult Supervision and Responsibility On Premises:

- In common areas (including the lobby, hallways, and waiting zones), adults must ensure minors are properly monitored or accept responsibility. EscapeOut Folsom staff and game hosts are not responsible for supervising or monitoring children, as their duties are focused on managing business with other guests, activities and active escape room sessions.
